I love the Sabbath!! It is a great day because it is the day that helps to remind me about what is real and what is truly important in life. There are so many things that get in the way of what really matters, and it is nice to have a day that I should totally devote to God - I am far from honoring the day as I should, but I am grateful for the chance to go to church and think a little about the previous week and make some mental goals for the week to come. I have not been very good at that lately, either, but a new year is just around the corner, and I think one of my goals should be to do better with my weekly self-inventory and subsequent goals for improvement.
Isn't it great to have the opportunity to change? I'm so grateful for the Savior and my faith in Him and the chance to repent because of Him. So, once again, Happy Sabbath!

Uffish Thoughts
My youngest sister is the right age to be in love with High School Musical and even more in love with Zak Efron. For Christmas I gave her a ticket to see the stage performance. In putting together her gift I printed out several pictures of Mr. Efron. One of my roommates took a look at one of the pictures and exclaimed something like, "Well, he's hot, isn't he?!!" Then she refused to look at the picture anymore. I have to admit that he did look pretty darn steamy.
I have determined that Mr. Efron looks better with black hair than blond, which means that he looks better in Hairspray than HSM (I will have you know that I have NOT seen High School Musical yet - I just know that he has blond hair in it). Thus, after watching Hairspray last night (which I think is funny, but a little border-line for my prudish movie watching tastes) and thinking about his attractiveness today, I find myself in a bit of a quandary over recognizing such good looks in someone so much younger than I. When did I get so old that it is now questionable to find a star "hot"?

The Day After Boxing Day
My mom took my sisters and me shopping today - wahoo!! right? Wrong!
For most girls this is great and a part of being a female - going out on the town to spend money on a new wardrobe. However, like one of my friends told me awhile back, "but Jamie, you are not like most girls." Touche.
I hate shopping. Maybe hate is a little strong, but it just seems like such a hassle to me. That's why I prefer to acquire my wardrobe from other people. Not only are hand-me-downs 100% less expensive than buying clothes, not only are they already worn in and comfortable, but you don't have to go brave the crowds as you try to find the perfect pair of jeans, or shoes, or shirt, or what have you.
However, I have to say that today's excursion went rather well. We were gone for about an hour and a half (only a half hour past my preferred shopping time), and in that time went to three stores (one of them being a pet store to try to calm my nerves) and successfully emerged with clothes for all of us daughters. I got two pairs of jeans, which is double the pairs I currently wear, and two pairs of flip-flops, which means I don't have to steal my roommate's anymore. Therefore, it was a success, and I won't have to do it again for awhile, which makes it even better - although I could use a couple of new shirts . . .

The Beginning
Hello, friends and family, and welcome to my blog!! For those of you who know me well enough, you know that I hate projects, especially ones that require more than, say, five minutes. That being said, this is sort of an experiment to see if I will finally stick to something for awhile.
The evidence is against me. Take, for example, the unfinished latch hook that I have had for longer than I can remember, or the Paint by Number that I received years ago and never finished, or the cross-stitch I began making as a wedding gift for one friend and ended up finishing for another about four years later. The list goes on and on.
I think my goal for now will be to post monthly (although I have hopes of posting more often than that).
Why, you may ask, would a person who abhors projects purposely begin one? Well, I have a couple of friends who have them, and I like them, and it seems like everybody's doing it, so I figured, why not??
And, Santa brought me a digital camera for Christmas, so I can actually take and post pictures without too much hassle.
Those of you who know me even slightly also know that I can ramble on and on forever and ever, so this might actually be my kind of project. We'll see. Thank you for checking this out, and if you come back from time to time and comment, it may give me the inertia I need to keep it up.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
